Some thoughts on Easter

Posted on Fri, Apr 3, 2015

What's it really mean?

It's that time of year again the stores are crowded with images of bunnies, eggs, baskets and other novelty items surrounding the Easter season. None of these things however represent the true meaning of the Holiday, that is the Resurrection of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Many Christians today are facing moral dilemmas over what to and not to partake in. Should this surprise us though? Hasn't Satan always set his sights on confusing the child of God with things brought out of the world. I would like to take a moment and remind everyone that sure it's true, the eggs, bunny, and baskets all are steeped in ancient Babylonian and other religions. Many posts I have seen on Facebook recently (and around every major Christian Holiday for that matter) are prime examples of believers standing for their beliefs of what should not be celebrated or tolerated for that matter.

I applaud these efforts to proclaim the truth however I sometimes wonder. Are we missing something in all these efforts? Something bigger right in front of our faces but seems at times to be overlooked. Right now all over the world in many cultures the total focus is on this day, Easter. Right now unlike any other time thru the year we as believers have the grandest opportunity to proclaim the glorious news that Jesus is Alive! I want to encourage each and every one of you reading this to hold firm to your convictions yes, but not at the expense of sharing the Gospel with someone in this lost and dying world. Remember at one time each and everyone of us had our blinders on concerning sin, the sin nature, and what our end would finally be. So this Easter I challenge all of us to focus just a little less on what's wrong with this Holiday and focus more on what's right. That is Christ and Him Crucified. Here is hoping each and everyone one of you has a wonderful Easter Weekend and that we all draw a little closer to Jesus and away from the world each and every day. God Bless you all sincerely your friends at Liberty Worship Center.
